Civic Participation & Community Leadership

Organizations are increasingly infusing into their missions and educational programs a concern for civic responsibility and meaningful community service. At CD&A we combine our expertise and experience with clients’ knowledge and commitment to develop projects that promote civic participation, community partnering, and leadership development. For foundations and institutions engaged in civic research, service learning, and leadership education we provide organizational assessment, curriculum development, research assistance and evaluation.

The Pew Partnership for Civic Change – Curriculum development for LeadershipPlenty, a series of community leadership workshops designed for the use of diverse groups nationwide engaged in civic change initiatives. Development and delivery of a Train the Trainer institute for the LeadershipPlenty program; case study research into three of the community leadership programs in Minneapolis, Baltimore, and rural South Dakota.

Claflin University –Evaluation of a FIPSE-funded project to demonstrate the use of performing arts as a form of civic education in college, community, and K-12 settings.

National Association of City & County Health Officials – Design and facilitation for Turning Point Indian Health Forum 2000, a forum about partnering among tribal and non-tribal governments and organizations to improve the health of people living on reservation lands.

University of Georgia’s Fanning Institute – Design of a 5-module community leadership curriculum to be delivered throughout Georgia.

The Kettering Foundation – Development of a draft Guide to Democratic Evaluation Practice.
